When it comes to mobile talent acquisition, the secret is meeting your job seekers where they are. In the coming months, more and more of those job seekers will be using their mobile devices to try and find jobs.
A recent report from GlobalWebIndex found that 80% of people own a smartphone device, and 47% own a tablet. And with the average person spending almost two hours a day accessing the internet via a mobile device, this technology now accounts for 30% of their daily internet usage.
As these numbers have grown, so have the uses – including hunting for jobs.

The Market and Mobile Job Seekers
LinkedIn’s recently published “3 Must-Know Talent Acquisition Trends for 2015" e-book found that job seeking through mobile devices hit a huge growth during 2014. 38% of candidates said that they learned about job opportunities from mobile devices in 2014, up 90% from 2013 (20%). That number is likely to continue growing. A Glassdoor survey found that 75% of respondents would most likely use their mobile device to search for jobs within the next year, and 45% of candidates using their device daily to assist in their job hunt.
There are two reasons for the rapid growth in mobile job hunting. The first reason is the ability to search on-the-go. A study from Indeed.com found that 40% of people cited the ability to search for a job from anywhere, at any time, as their biggest factor for using a mobile device during the job hunt. The reason this has become so important is because candidates now feel that they must apply to a job as soon as it’s posted in order to be in the running for the opportunity. Glassdoor found that 59% of all candidates feel that they have the best opportunity to be considered for a job if they apply immediately.
What This Means for Mobile Talent Acquisition
Job seekers, enabled with mobile devices and fueled by competitiveness, are now accessing job postings from anywhere and at any time. With almost half of job seekers saying they use this practice daily, and three out of five people believing that they need to apply to a job as soon as it’s posted in order to be competitive, this latest job-hunting trend is unlikely to fade away.
Whether your potential job candidates are getting food, enjoying a coffee, or simply taking a walk, they will find your job postings – likely within a few minutes after you post them.
